Our vision is to connect, engage, and inspire all students in the Ayer Shirley Regional School District to reach academic excellence. We, the educators of the Ayer Shirley Regional School District, will instill habits of reflection and inquiry to challenge our students in setting ambitious academic and personal goals. Students will develop a strong voice to express thoughts and ideas in the community and the confidence to showcase their talents and successes in preparation for entry into college and the world of work.

A beautiful summer day along the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, ME.

Panther Pride

Greetings ASRSD Families,

The countdown has begun! We welcome our students in Grades 1-12 on Wednesday, August 30, 2017. The token school bell will ring and we will be off to another great year. This summer will be remembered as a summer of firsts. We experienced a breathtaking eclipse and most recently had a bull on the run! And unfortunately, we were witness to violence, bigotry, hate, and racism. Please be assured this school district values respect, diversity, tolerance, equity, and inclusion. We want every child to be happy, to feel he/she matters, and to look forward to coming to school every day. These disturbing events in Charlottesville, VA may confuse your child and cause stress and fear. We are here to support your family, and please do not hesitate to contact your child’s principal, teacher, or school counselor. Talking about these horrific events can be difficult and trying to understand the impact on our children is complex. Together we need to promote respect, justice, and equality. Here is a resource to assist you in this difficult conversation with your child: https://www.pta.org/programs/content.cfm?ItemNumber=985

A Hearty Welcome
We welcome our new principal at LAW, Mrs. Varsha Desai, as well as our new teachers. All of our teachers are wonderful, hardworking, and committed to providing your child a top quality education.

Facilities Improvements
We have made many improvements to our facilities over the summer. We have freshly painted walls, new carpet, plumbing and heating repairs, HVAC and electrical repairs and upgrades, and new classroom furniture.  The lead in the water at Page Hilltop has been corrected as we promised to you in June. We have added filling stations throughout the school and filters to existing bubblers which filter out the lead. Thank you for patience and support as we worked to resolve this issue. Please join me in sending a big shout out to the custodial staff!

SAVE THE DATE!
We have new curricula resources we want to share with you at our annual Curricula Expo on October 5, 2017. K-8 has a new literacy program. Come learn more about Eureka Math at the middle school, and the many courses we offer at the high school. Come learn abut the integration of technology. We are so excited that every high school student will have his/her own device. As the school year starts, keep a log of your questions so we will be able to deepen your understanding of the curricula that is taught to your child. "The more you know, the more they’ll grow." Additional details will be provided as the event gets closer.

First Day of School
Please return the free/reduced lunch application recently mailed to you. I ask that you carefully read the Meals Charge Policy enclosed in this mailing. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Our Extended School Year program and the Revolving Museum worked hard to create this sculpture out of recycled materials.  In case you may have missed a viewing, it is located in the front of the Page Hilltop school.
