Michele has been on the ASRSC since being elected to a three-year term in May of 2011. Michele is an active board member of the AEF, now ASEF since 2008 and was a former member of PHT PTO. She served as a parent on the Regional Strategic Planning Committee. She has served on the contract negotiation team and represented the Committee at DEAC meetings. Michele has two children in the district; Nicholas, a member of the Class of 2020 and Emily, a member of the Class of 2022.
Joyce has three sons, all of whom attended Shirley Public Schools and went on to have successful college careers. She was an active leader in the Shirley Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for many years and was the Committee Chairman in both groups. Joyce still coordinates a very successful annual food drive with the Scouts. Her interest in children prompted her to run for Shirley School Committee where she served for nine years and three as Chairman. During that time she also served on the Middle School Study Committee, the Design Committee and the Building Committee. The formation of the new Regional District prompted Joyce to run again and she was elected to a one-year term in 2010 and then a three-year term in 2011. Joyce has been a member of the Negotiating Team, which recently concluded a new contract for the combined teacher's union. She was a member of the ASRSD Building Committee and Chair of the Sustainability Working Group.
Cheryl was elected to the Ayer Shirley Regional School District School
Committee in 2019 for a three year term. Prior to the regional district forming, she served two terms on the Ayer school committee and was part of the sub-committee studying regionalization and forming a regional agreement with Shirley. Cheryl earned her bachelor's degree in education at San Diego State University and her master's in special education from Fitchburg State University. She has further training and certification in school administration. Cheryl has worked as a teacher and administrator at a nearby school district for the past 25 years. Cheryl has three children with her husband Scott; two boys who graduated from Ayer Shirley in June 2018, and both currently attend UMass Amherst. Their daughter attends Ayer Shirley High School. All three of Cheryl and Scott's children have been active in various hockey programs, including those through the schools. This has kept the whole family very busy at rinks all over New England.
Born and raised in Shirley, Jim attended St. Anthony's parochial school, LAW junior high school and graduated from Ayer High School in 1974. Jim earned his BSME from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and MSME from Boston University. Jim has 10 years experience in the design and manufacture of aircraft engines for General Electric, Lynn, MA with his last position being as the manager of process technology operation for Lynn Engine Group. Jim left on a 1 year leave of absence to help out with the family business, (Shirley Fuel and Gas), 22 years ago. Jim currently resides in Shirley with his wife Beth, and their three high school age children, Deran, Catherine, and Sierra.
Jonathan was elected to a three year term in May of 2015. Serving on the ASRSC is his first elected position. In 2014 Jonathan served on the Superintendent Search Advisory Committee which selected the finalists for the new district superintendent. Jonathan is a 2001 graduate of Ayer High School and earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems from Fitchburg State College in 2005. He is married to Erin, and together they have two children, Jonah and Finleigh.
Joe was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Ayer Shirley Regional School District School Committee in April 2019. Prior to joining the School Committee he was a member of the Ayer Shirley Superintendent Search Committee, and helped start the Ayer Shirley Athletic Hall of Fame. Joe retired from the Concord Carlisle Middle and High Schools in 2012, after teaching for 40 years. He provided professional development in cooperative learning, thinking skills, and habits of mind, and coached football, baseball, and basketball at the varsity level for 50 years. Joe’s three grandchildren attend the Ayer Shirley Regional School District.
