Our vision is to connect, engage, and inspire all students in the Ayer Shirley Regional School District to reach academic excellence. We, the educators of the Ayer Shirley Regional School District, will instill habits of reflection and inquiry to challenge our students in setting ambitious academic and personal goals. Students will develop a strong voice to express thoughts and ideas in the community and the confidence to showcase their talents and successes in preparation for entry into college and the world of work.

2015 Comes To A Close

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are closing in on a very marvelous yet hectic time of year. I am hopeful that you will find time to take a breath, count your blessings and enjoy the love of family and friends.

As we come to the close of 2015 and are midway through second term, students should be unraveling the mysteries of our new  Eureka Math Program, have completed many Accelerated Math objectives and have learned that middle school math rocks!

As we move deeper into technology and engineering sciences, Mr. Richard, our Stem teacher and Mrs. Dyer, our Computer teacher have introduced students to coding. All students participated in the Hour of Code during the week of December 7th. If you would like more information, check out the site at hourofcode.com.  Additionally, Mr. Richard instituted a Bridge Building Competition, a competition where students built bridges outside of school and will be bringing them in this week to participate in the Bridge Building Competition to be held on Wednesday, December 23rd. Results will be published in our January Newsletter. Stay tuned!

If you attended our Winter Concert, you surely know how hard the Chorus, Guitar Club and Band students have been working. It was a magical musical evening and we are grateful for the strong leadership of Band Director, Rachael Fletcher, Guitar Club Director, Kevin Langford and Chorus Director, Marianne Cooper. Our students are fortunate to have such opportunities to develop and hone their musical talents. Immediately following our winter break, auditions for our spring play, Law and Order: Nursery Rhyme Unit, will be held. If your child is interested in auditioning for a part, being part of the stage crew or lighting crew, please contact Mrs. Fletcher directly.

With the Parent Portal running smoothly, please be sure to keep an eye on your child’s academic performance and email your child’s teacher directly with any questions or concerns.  I have included a link for an interesting article on supporting your child in school. I hope that you find it engaging.
