Welcome to the winds of March! Spring is almost upon us and we all know what that means... baseball, bike riding, more daylight and a time to get outside to enjoy the warmer weather. Of course, we cannot forget that it also means it is time to assess our students through state testing. ASRMS MCAS will begin in April and conclude in May. The calendar of specific testing is posted to the website. Each grade level will have two computer based sessions of math and two computer based sessions of ELA. Additionally, eighth graders will participate in two sessions of paper-based MCAS Science/Technology and Engineering. We are asking parents to ensure their child is on time for school each day of testing as testing will begin promptly at 7:45 am. We have designated the first two blocks of each school day for the testing window. The state has suggested 100-110 minutes for ELA sessions, 70 minutes for each math session and 45 minutes for each science session. However, since we have returned to MCAS as our state test, all testing is untimed and students can use the entire school day, if necessary, to complete that session. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
