Rita Briggs-Class of 1947

Starting Catcher Ayer Baseball Team for 2 years
Only girl baseball player in school history
Played in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League 1947-1954
All Star and member of 2 champion teams
In 1948 - set the all-time record for most games played by a catcher in a single season (128 games)
Women in Baseball – AAGPBL Permanent Display Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum (1988)
ASRHS Softball Field named “Rita Briggs Field” in 2009

George Scullane

George Scullane-Class of 1954

A 3 sport Standout athlete (Football, Basketball, and Baseball).
Voted Most Athletic in his Class.
Went on to play College football and baseball for the Louisiana College Wildcats.
After college he served for 2 years in the United States Army. 
After the Army George returned to the Ayer School district where he served as a Teacher, Principal, and the Head Football Coach.

Sue Heuman Nelsen-Class of 1981

A four year player in softball and Basketball. Scored 1082 points in basketball
A Lowell Sun All-Star in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. 
Lowell Sun player of the year in 11th, and 12th grade.
Led the Panthers to 3 league championships in 79, 80, and 81 and led the team to 2 Central MA championships and 2 state finalist appearances 80-81. 
A 4 year All-Star in Softball and 2 time team MVP.  Went on to Play Basketball, Volleyball, and Softball at Southeastern Massachusetts University. 

Shawn Murphy-Class of 1992

A three sport standout athlete for the Panthers in Football, Basketball and Track. 
An All-Star in all three sports. 
Played in the 1989 Super Bowl
Captain of the Clark Tournament Championship Basketball Team
Held the school Javelin record for many years 

Justin Lamoreaux-Class of 1974

2013 Retired after 33 years of service

Joe Hickey-Coach

Ayer H.S. Head Basketball coach 1962-1980. 
Led the Panthers to two Central MA DII Titles & two State semifinalist appearances in 75 and 79.
Five Wachusett League Championships in 71, 74, 75, 77, and 80.
Led the Panthers to a league record of 162-36, and an overall record of 212-96.
50 years of coaching experience in boys and girls basketball, and football.
